CICRP Editorial Board

Chairperson - Lea Carlyle

The bilingual publication entitled Current Issues in Cardiac Rehabilitation and Prevention (CICRP) is written by CACR members for CACR members. Each issue translates current research into practice drawing upon the experiences of cardiac rehabilitation programs active in the area of each specific theme.

We are currently recruiting an Editor and Associate Editors to join the team. There are 3 issues per year. Each CICRP is theme based and comprised of 3 - 5 feature articles, Program Profile, case studies, references, and Association news. The themes are determined a year in advance. Production is coordinated by the CACR office.

The editorial team solicits articles and then edits them as necessary. We are looking for people with strong spelling and grammar skills. This would be an excellent opportunity for graduate students.

Finance & Marketing

Goal: To develop and pursue long term funding for the Association and its activities including the conference, Canadian Cardiac Rehab Registry, Guidelines, Wait Time project, development of clinical tools and online resources for members and physicians. This opportunity opens doors for potential support for local programs through your efforts in assisting CACR. No marketing experience necessary although it would be an asset.

Goal: To recruit and retain members by promoting the benefits of CACR, and support activities designed to enhance/add value to member services.

CACR Registry Project (CCRR)

Chairperson - Paul Oh

Goal: To develop a national database of cardiac rehabilitation patient data for improving patient outcomes; benchmark CR program performance; research support for health outcomes, and influence health policy.

CCRR Research Sub-Committee

The CCRR Research Sub-Committee is responsible for the development of criteria and approval of applications for research on the data in the CCRR. In addition, the focus is on the revenue generating ability of the research program in order to sustain the long-term future of the CCRR. Volunteers for this sub-committee would have a strong research and publication background.

We are currently searching for a chairperson for this sub-committee.

CCRR Data Transfer Verification Sub-Committee

Chairperson - Bill Daub

The CCRR Data Transfer Compatibility Review Committee is responsible for reviewing applications submitted by organizations with Client Management Systems for compatibility with the CCRR. The goal is to have compatibility between the CCRR and as many Client Management Systems as possible to maximize uploading of CR patient data.

Volunteers for this Committee need not have an IT background, but rather be process and detail oriented in order to apply our established Data Transfer Compatibility process.

Professional Development

Chairperson - Kelly Yurasek

Goal: To facilitate knowledge translation and continuous development of professionals in cardiac rehabilitation through varied means including the annual symposium, web education, online resources, and guidelines clinical tools.

Currently searching for volunteers to serve on a review committee for the online Resource Library currently under development.

Goal: To ensure strong leadership of CACR through the succession of the Board of Directors and the CACR Executive.

Guidelines

Chairperson - James Stone

Goal: To develop, promote, distribute and maintain currency of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for the practice of cardiac rehabilitation and cardiovascular disease prevention in Canada, and link these guidelines to the CACR Registry to ensure the best patient outcomes and program performance.

Research

Chairperson - Ilka Lowensteyn

Goal: To encourage and foster research in cardiac rehabilitation by providing national leadership and focus in promotion and coordination of research initiatives related to cardiac rehabilitation and secondary prevention. The primary responsibility is to provide a peer-review of abstracts for orals and poster presentations at the CACR Annual Meeting and Symposium and to select the annual winners of the Graduate Scholarship Awards.
