As a consequence of their direct input, this chapter is the first fully consolidated and harmonized presentation of cardiovascular health recommendations with respect to physical activity, diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemias, obesity, and smoking cessation in Canada.

Student Travel Grant: Childhood and Adolescent Obesity 2010

The purpose of the Student Travel Support Program is to help students (senior undergraduates, Master's and doctoral candidates) travel to and deliver a poster presentation at the Childhood and Adolescent Obesity 2010: Families in Focus in Hamilton, ON, October 27-29, 2010. This program does not support travel expenses for lab exchange travel. Up to four (4) students will receive $500.00 CDN each to support their travel and registration fees for this conference.

One of the most popular and widely read chapters of the previous Guidelines was that of Special Populations within CR programs. We are all challenged almost daily to provide innovative, yet safe and effective, CR services to these patients. This chapter expands on the previous Guidelines and includes extensive new information on pacemaker and ICD patients along with information on CR in children and adolescents with congenital heart disease.
