AACVPR Webcast: Therapeutic Options for the Patient with Refractory Hyperlipidemia

The proper management of patients with lipid disorders is an important aspect of preventive cardiovascular medicine. While most patients do well on their prescribed medical regimens, many do not reach their lipid goals. This presentation focuses on the proper use of lipid medication, common pitfalls in lipid management, and treatment options for patients who do not respond adequately despite the use of properly designed medical regimens.

National Walk of Life for Cardiac Rehabilitation  
The Walk of Life for Cardiac Rehabilitation is gaining momentum. This fundraising event is open to cardiac rehabilitation programs with at least one CACR member. All Walk events are organized locally with assistance from the Cardiac Health Foundation of Canada and most importantly, all funds raised in the local community stay with the local program(s). The Walk of Life is a joint effort between the CACR and the Cardiac Health Foundation. Initiated in 2003, this event is now in over 40 communities across Canada.

New Incentive:

Every cardiac rehab program that has 150 participants is entitled to a FREE DEFIBRILLATOR (includes Philips Heart Start Defibrillator, wall cabinet, lithium batteries, pads & training. Value: $2,500).

Student Travel Grant: Childhood and Adolescent Obesity 2010

The purpose of the Student Travel Support Program is to help students (senior undergraduates, Master's and doctoral candidates) travel to and deliver a poster presentation at the Childhood and Adolescent Obesity 2010: Families in Focus in Hamilton, ON, October 27-29, 2010. This program does not support travel expenses for lab exchange travel. Up to four (4) students will receive $500.00 CDN each to support their travel and registration fees for this conference.
